Q: As a marketer for a beauty startup, what aspects should I be questioning before I move forward with our go-to-market strategy?
When you step into a marketing role for a beauty brand, there’s an assumption that you already have all the skills you need to promote that brand, and build it. This is true whether you’re the brand founder and you’re marketing your startup yourself, or you’ve been hired in as a marketer to work with an established brand; and yet, if we’re being honest, no marketer knows everything.
It’s a hard thing to admit – because marketing, to those who don’t do it, is a sort of magical mystery. There’s this idea that if you put enough time and money into marketing, your brand will come out on top. Marketers themselves, however, are often painfully aware of the skill sets they struggle with; because the tasks they have to execute every day are varied and constantly changing.
