With people spending more and more time online, global attention is turning to the health implications of our digital lives. A growing body of research, undertaken during the Covid-19 pandemic, highlights risks to mental and physical health — with concerns ranging from ‘Zoom anxiety’ to the long-term effects of having a sedentary body.
Spurred on by the evidence that more screen time leads to poorer health, the digital wellness movement is emerging. As well as encouraging healthy lifestyles off-screen, digital wellness is about what we can do to make our time online more beneficial for our health. It includes activities like online yoga and meditation classes, virtual personal training, and online therapy.
