Hero Cosmetics has positioned itself as a skincare hero for acne-prone customers. But I’d argue it’s also a hero of something else: SEO.
The New York-based brand was founded in 2017 by Korean Ju Rhyu, with some products made in the US and some in South Korea. In September 2022, the brand was acquired by Church & Dwight for USD $630 million – an impressive valuation for a young brand with new ideas, five years after launch. Hero’s innovative approach to troubled skin had something to do with it – it was the first brand to offer hydrocolloid acne patches to consumers in the US at scale, for example.
