Over the last decade, we’ve seen waves of influencer-founded beauty brands arrive on the market via Instagram and YouTube, including (but definitely not limited to) Huda Beauty and Jeffree Star Cosmetics. Now, TikTok is enjoying a boom in users and engagement, and top TikTok figures — like the Nel Twins, and Addison Rae — are tapping into the purchasing power of their Gen Z followers.
These new brands are slightly different, though. Because they’re native to TikTok, and they’re selling on TikTok. Social media platforms are fast developing new e-commerce functions and upping their shoppable prowess, so today’s influencers are perfectly placed to become pioneers of social commerce.
