In a recent brand meeting, a client told me:
“I remember watching my mother put on makeup, and I’d sit there and ask what all the different pots were for, and she’d explain…this is for covering that up, this is for making me look less tired, this is for making me feel beautiful. But I talk to my friends now, about what they’re teaching their kids about beauty, and it’s not like that — not at all.”
Later, she added, “I just wonder if the girls that are growing up right now are going to want this [color cosmetics] at all, and what kinds of products they’re going to be using instead.”
It’s an interesting question.
